Dhereisa is about 55 km from Bajawa the capital of Ngada district. The study area covers approximately 15 sq km and is in a lowland area with an avarage altitude Of 400 meters above sea level. The major land cover here is Imperata Grassland on plains and undulating low hills. Impperata Grassland burns every year.

Of the 794 people that live in Dhereisa 406 are male and 388 female in 41 families. The most important work they do is farming. Each Family has their own land. They inherit this land from their family group.
