Doromeli

Dorameli is about 60 km from Bajawa. The study area covers approximately 15 sq km and is located in a mountain area with avarage altitude of 600 msl.
Dominant Vegetation Type on this area is Impperata Grassland (89 %).

Eight hundred and ninety eight people live in Doromeli. Small scale horticulture in the fertile valleys is the major source of income. Other jobs include livestock grazing and home industry.

Large fires occur every year in this area.

Our project has been well recieved by the people of Doromeli. The underlying cause of fire on this area are :

1.Decrease society and Government care about grassland and forest burn.

2.Fire is still the most important tool for traditional acctivities such as grazing and huting activities.
